GETTING OUT OF A STICKY SITUATION
Resumo/Abstracts
Sticky silicone oil, often caused by the accidental mixing of silicone oil tamponade with perfluorocarbon remnants from previous surgeries, results in a dense fluid that cannot be aspirated with conventional methods. This condition is usually identified intraoperatively and is, in most cases, a surprise for the surgeon, making preparation challenging.
Due to its rarity, many surgeons may not have encountered a similar case, presenting an added challenge during surgery. In this video, we present a simple, accessible technique - also applicable for removing dropped heavy silicone oil bubbles - that can help surgeons effectively manage this situation and ensure successful outcomes.
