PYRAMIDAL GUIDE TO FACILITATE THE INSERTION OF THE SOFT-TIP THROUGH VALVED TROCARS

Resumo/Abstracts

One of the challenges during vitrectomy is the insertion of the soft-tip through valved trocars. We often struggle because the silicone tip bends in most cases.

We have developed a system that attaches to the valved trocar, guiding the soft-tip through it and preventing it from bending.
This allows it to pass easily through the trocar system, enabling us to perform procedures with the soft-tip damaged. This is especially important when injecting substances into the vitreous cavity or aspirating fluids from it.

This guided system is easily attached to the external part of the valved trocars without causing any leakage and we can insert the soft-tip with great ease because the distal part of this system features a funnel that facilitates the entry of the soft-tip into the guide. This allows it to pass directly through the valve without the silicone end bending.

After using the silicone tip during retina surgery, we can easily remove this pyramidal guide without causing any structural damage to the trocar valve system.
